Recommended Tools To Help Coaches

Tools make our tasks easier. In my free DIY website course, I teach you how to use some of the best tools to enable you to do those tech things with ease. So, check that out, and see what other tools I recommend here in this list…

Recommended Tools

In this list are tools and services that I recommend and use myself. Please note that some links (*) on this page are affiliate links which means that I get some financial reward from the company for referring potential new customers. This comes at no extra cost to you and may even give you an initial discount. This helps me continue my work. Please also note that I don’t pick these tools just for the affiliate commission. There’s many terrible tools that pay great commissions, but I would never recommend a tool or service that I would not use myself.

Website Hosting

Hosting will be the foundation of your whole business so if there is one area you should really invest in, it’s here. It will affect your website speed, it will give you essential services and it should enable you to grow as your business grows. Finding the right hosting solution for me has been a difficult journey and having to change from one to another is a technical nightmare.

SiteGround*

Everything you need for a coaching type business at competitive prices, amazing support, fantastic speed and services and a really simple interface.

You can sign up with Siteground and get up to 70% off for 3 years here>>

CyberhostPro*

UK based hosting for small local businesses. Great pricing and speed. Cheaper than SiteGround but isn’t as easy to use if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Check out Cyberhost Pro hosting and their services here>>

WP Engine

Build for huge traffic websites that needs demand from servers. Only used once for helping a friends e-commerce business out but loved the interface. However, expensive and overkill for the needs of a typical coaching website.

If you need really powerful hosting, check out WP Engine here>>

Website Building

What you build your website with should allow you to easily do what you need now and in the future. It should also be well supported and give you access to information and advice when needed.

WordPress

99% of all I do now is on WordPress. It just provides an easy core to build pretty much any type of website you will ever need. NOTE: Do not use wordpress.com (Read blog post here)

WordPress files are downloaded via your host. Siteground makes it really easy to install WordPress. Get SiteGround Hosting here>>

Elementor*

Want to customise your WordPress website and make it unique to you? Want to have a website you can add or remove things as and when you need to? Then Elementor is the builder you need to make it easy to do anything!

Find out more about Elementor, Elementor Pro and sign up here>>

Oxygen

Oxygen is an Elementor alternative that allows you to build lighter and quicker websites. However, you do require more CSS knowledge to use it effectively, so if you are techy, this could be a better solution for you.

Shopify

The only non-wordpress platform I will recommend but only if you want an e-commerce business. They’ve provided a simple to use platform to build and scale beautiful online stores with. More pricey than a WordPress & WooCom website but that is offset with its convenience.

Website Security & Maintenance

Maintaining your website is important to help it continue to function and to keep it safe from attackers! Tools listed here will help you to easily maintain your WordPress website

All-in-one Migration

This is my primary tool for taking complete website backups off-line. So, should anything ever happen, I know I have the information to retrieve quickly and easily.

All In One Migration is available through the WordPress repository. You can find out more about the plugin here>>

Manage WP Orion

If you have multiple sites to manage updates and backups of, WP Orion gives you a central point to manage all of your sites. This is what I use to manage clients sites regularly.

iThemes Security

Having your site secured against threat is important and there’s many things to do. iThemes protects against many different forms of attack making it harder to hack your website.

Some of the tools mentioned above are WordPress plugins related to those categories. However these are other plugins that come in really handy for building or running your WordPress site.

Sometimes, you want to duplicate something you’ve already made in WordPress so you don’t have to start from scratch. This tool makes it easy to do.

Yoast Duplicate Post is available through the WordPress repository. You can find out more about the plugin here>>

If you’re not an SEO expert (like me!) then RankMath will help you ensure your pages, posts and website are SEO optimised with ease! It integrates directly into Elementor too for even more convenience.

RankMath is available through the WordPress repository. You can find out more about the plugin here>>

SOGO Header Footer

Sometimes you need to copy some scripts into your website header or footer. SOGO makes that easy and it also allows individual scripts per page, very handy for your Facebook Pixel.

If you’re going to sell things on your WordPress website, there’s no doubt WooCommerce is the plugin you need to manage your paid products and services that you offer.

CartFlows

Sometimes you want a little more options and some nicer forms for your WooCommerce cart pages. CartFlows gives you more flexibility and enables you to build sales funnel pages to upsell more products or services.

CartFlows is available through the WordPress repository. You can find out more about the plugin here>>

WP Simple Pay

If you’re just wanting to sell a couple of services or products or just want a simple payment form, WooCommerce can be overkill. Which is when WP Simple Pay comes in really handy for a simple payment form.

WP Simple Pay is available through the WordPress repository. You can find out more about the plugin here>>

Email Marketing

Making use of Email Marketing is essential for almost any online business whether that Is to make use of the email automation features, to grow an email list or for both!

Mailerlite grew the easiest email marketing platform around with nice and easy sequence flows to build your automated sequences. It also has the most generous free account you can get around to get you started.

Online Course Platforms

If you want to create and sell online courses (and why wouldn’t you?) then having a place to offer, sell and deliver your courses is needed.

There’s not many course marketplaces I’d recommend, but SkillShare is a great place for lots of small courses. I don’t host courses here myself but I do learn from small courses, like getting graphic design tips, here. SkillShare is a subscription service that shares revenue to the biggest course providers.

Online Booking Forms

If people need to schedule time with you, then online booking systems are a huge way to make that whole process easier and free up tons of time.

Calendly

Many years ago I considered the options available for booking forms and Calendly won hand over fist above the rest. It’s continuously served me and my clients well which is why it’s the only one I recommend.

I have a free course showing you how to implement and use Calendly here>>

Graphic/Image/Video Software

If people need to schedule time with you, then online booking systems are a huge way to make that whole process easier and free up tons of time.

Simple and quick graphics required? Canva really is the tool to use. A very generous free version is ideal for all your basic graphics needs, such as social media images, cover images, etc. I was once skeptical about Canva and I have access to photoshop, but Canva is my go to tool for most of my simple graphics.

If you’re creating video content and you need to edit them, then iMovie is the simplest editing software available for Apple users. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend another out of the Apple environment as I haven’t tried any myself (apart from the Adobe products).

Found out more about iMovie over on the Apple website here>>

Adobe Creative Cloud

I’m a professional who uses these services a lot so I subscribe to the Adobe Creative Cloud. However, it is expensive and may be overkill for a small coaching business who only needs occasional edits.

As I have a Microsoft 365 account, I get a whopping 1TB of cloud storage which I use to stare all my main files (no more running out of laptop space!) and it’s only £79/year for all the office suite too.

Get Onedrive and Microsoft 365 Office Suite  here>>
